Sea Oats Commission

Sea Oats II
COMMISSION

16x16 Oil on Stretched Gallery Wrapped Canvas

I was asked to do a larger version of my Sea Oats painting. And of course was more than happy to do it! Here it is. It is in fact a different painting, although it looks the same at first glance. Thanks for looking!

Slice (Lemon On A Glass Oil Painting)

SOLD
Slice
5x7 Oil Painting on Raymar Canvas Panel

With the lemon on the glass I wanted to capture the light that gave the lemon a translucent quality. The original painting shows the light a little more. Cold drinks are nice this time of year in South Carolina when the weather is in the 90s. But of course I love the hot weather.

Plant Something

Plant Something
5x7 Oil on canvas panel

A professor gave me some valuable advice this past semester. He said that whenever he moves to a new place, no matter how long he will be living there, he always plants something and gets to know the people around him. We won't be living in Columbia for a whole lot longer, but these are petunias that I planted.

Sea Oats

Sea Oats

8x8 Oil on gallery wrapped canvas.

Random fact of the day: Sea Oats (some call them Sea Wheat) are a species of grass that grows along the East Coast of the Us, Florida, and the Gulf of Mexico. They are protected by law. Apparently there's not that much of it so you can get fined for damaging the stalks in some places. But I was looking at them last summer while at Huntington Beach State Park. They have to be the most awesome type of grass I've ever seen. I wanted to pick them and put them in a bouquet. There were signs saying "Don't damage the Sea Oats!" So I left them in peace.

So next time you're somewhere on the East Coast beaches and you see what appears to be wheat growing in the sand take a minute to look closer and notice them.

Refreshments
8x10 Oil on canvas panel.

The semester is over! I wanted to squeeze in a painting before my summer class takes up my time for another two weeks. But this painting was just a fun way to put some paint down. I didn't want to worry about the details. I just wanted to have fun! One thing I'm looking forward to this summer is having more time to paint. I want to paint a couple a week. It's fun to put them on here for people to see. I know I like seeing the creations of other people cause they are unique and represent everyone's personalities so much! So here's to summer, to vacations, to refreshment and renewing.

"Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life.
I'll show you how to take a real rest.
Walk with me and work with me--
watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly"
